Summer rain

When summer rain turns paths to streams
The torrent soaks once arid ground
On silent roads the tarmac gleams
Distant thunder,the only sound

Sated leaves with raindrops heavy
Clematis climbs to intertwine
Smell of earth's dust damp and heady
Languid roses rise and shine

Bright now the land from solar beams
Green pastures show abundance rife
Wild meadows wake from emerald dreams
While nature sings her songs of life
