Fighting the storm

Rob Loomer 1979 (Las Vegas)

The storm lifts behind us
All sails on the mend
The waters have mellowed
But I'll not pretend
Like it never happened
My scars testify
We battled the ocean
Some good men have died
The waves crashed upon us
We fought for the chance
To save the poor ship
As she started to dance
Winds tore through the front sails
All hands on the deck
We knew we must prevail
To finish the trek
The sun is now shining
So warm and so bright
The men now remaining
Have land in their sights
We needed each other
To get where we are
Our ship she can rest now
She's traveled so far
