Where the rubber hits the road

Royston 1946 (Reading)

As the wine began running out
I wondered what life was about,
caught up in that awful place where
life gets tough and the rubber hits the road.

The world was just passing me by
and I could not understand why,
not knowing what I should do,
for I was burdened by sins heavy load.

Then I heard the Lord Jesus say
'I too have walked along that way,
dying alone in that grim place where
twixt life and death the rubber hits the road.'

'And there upon my blood soaked back
I took all of that awful flack
as I paid the price in full,
and bore the cost of your sins heavy load'

Then with tears I cried out to Him
"Lord, please forgive all of my sin.
Come and lift me out of this place where
all is lost and the rubber hits the road."

Then He came to me as I cried
with His loving arms opened wide,
cleansing me and setting me free
from the burden of sins heavy load.
