Utah

Smack against the rock.  Don’t
ignore the gravity holding you high, a stylite on martian
red rock.  A god to see or be.

I would take flight
and descend.  Not rushing through the empty space,
but pulled in steps back to the dusty earth
to rest in the wash with cool stones.

About this poem

The heights and colors of southern Utah have been stuck in my mind lately.

Wow! This poem definitely had me captivated with the beautiful imagery and creative use of language. The way the lines were woven together to create a seamless story was impressive. I especially loved the line "Don't ignore the gravity holding you high, a stylite on martian red rock. A god to see or be." It really showcased the powerful impact of the words used.

In terms of improvement suggestions, perhaps adding some punctuation could help to guide the reader's interpretation of the poem. Also, perhaps expanding on some of the imagery could make it even more powerful and immersive. Overall, this is a fantastic piece of writing and I look forward to reading more from this author. Great job!
