time an ol' enemy

Days come and nights follow,
rock turns to earth swallowed;
Black strands to hollow white.

We don’t age like fine wines,
All we want is more time.

The fountain of youth we all desire,
The will to live in us burns like a fire.
Fire burns through us,
turns us to dead trees from fresh ones.
Our journey through life is to quench that fire,
To douse it with the waters, of the fountain.

Rain brings life, the sun takes away,
Slowly these days take the rain far away.
But these times bring wisdom,
the meaning of life,
alas, we figure that out at the end of our time.
