The History of Man

Our word entire is a sphere
floating in unknown darkness.

The age of life, the age of man
had existed for long enough,
vomited earth and snowy lands, they have seen.

Wars were fought and still go on,
hated by man but secretly craved;
for this is the history of man.

Glory is promised, heaven is waiting.
Land is desired but devoured in taking;
for this is the history of man.

One side of virtue the other of vice.
Keep fighting, keep fighting no matter the price;
for this is the history of man.

We fight in the highest reaches,
in valleys and deserts and even beaches,
we die, we devour, we fight for power;
for this is the legacy of man.
