Connected to the World

Connected to the World

The matrix is here
Within you already
Biological in nature
No electrical connections
Wired up just the same
A part of the world within you

Only ten percent of us is you
The rest is other creatures
With no relation to you
Except they run your body
Darkened eye lamps hide the view
In the mind you might be driving

Lovecraft saw it all to clearly
That feeling you are not alone
The fuzzy shapes of things
Just away buzzing inside of us
Burning up calories you supply
Communicating with the outside world

Chemical factories deep inside
Churning out substances day or night
The only time we ever notice
Is when they crank out toxins
Stuff that makes you feel uneasy
Only we know what we think

The rest of the time
You are feeling fine
Unable to feel anything inside
Maybe just a little bit numb
Riding bones sharing fluids
You believe everything's okay

Chemical messengers signal change
Might be more of just the same
We really think the only time
Microbes are felt is when it is bad
Numbness hides more than you think
Not your cravings guiding the way
