The Big Joke

The Big Joke

Four hundred jet planes, private charters, smoking to Scotland, lots of hot air
Talking climate change, as if it was some big discovery, just open any window
Offering tidbits, chump change, nickels, dimes, ten percent of what's needed
Running in place, just to keep things falling apart slower, only slows the gloom

Problem is all that water, falling out of polar regions, melting, raining everywhere
The weather will get worse every day, no doubt, every day, for decades to come
Water has to be refrozen, locked up, but how to get it all back, to the polar regions
Sisyphus, a made up story, who lives like that, never happens, running in place

Now everyone has to be on their best climatic behavior, forever and ever, lifetimes
Takes that long, longer, and now the joke, the joke, there is no reward for people
People worrying about the world changing, yet the underworld is always the same
Doing all the right things, but nothing gets better, will people ever tow that line
