Off Line Brains

Off Line Brains

Connected to the system
Just like the movies
Answers to everything
Tip of your tongue

Hard to come by
An honest day's knowledge
Mined from the rocks
Gliding fingers tapping glass

Hard to come by
Making judgments too late
Your searches preset
Like a radio dial
Nothing new on the horizon
You seen it all before

Following your footsteps
Places you have been
How can you learn
If there is anything new
Seems like you know
Until the batteries die

Powered off the reboot comes
Everything on line
And nothing in your head
Suppose to be safe
Always check the servers

Brains in your pocket
Like grains of sand
Which lasts longer
Time always tells

Looking into the screen
Always asking others
Reading all the answers
From the massive cheat sheet

Everything bet on
Live by the totals
Buy only what others vote
Watch the sales results

Pick only winners
They are easy to see
Some light the way
It's all done by consensus

The ones and the zeros
Add up the totals
Tell the machine what to do
You’re the boss and the brains
Until the batteries die
