Zesty Italian/ My Brown Eyed Girl - 3

My third encounter
With this mystery woman
She walked into work
Wearing a Blue, and Black Flannel
With black jeans.
It was like
She was sending me a message
As she mean mugged me.
She brushed her nose
Making the gesture to me
Like I was being nosy.
Like I was prying
Into something that
Wasn’t supposed to be.
I didn’t jump into any conclusions
I waited for opportunity to strike.
The woman watched me
Like she really
Had something she wanted
To say to me.
If looks could kill
I was dead man walking,
And she was
The executioner.
She stood off to the side
Of the cook station
As I walked by
And grabbed the bus tub
As I passed back by
I almost bumped into her
She said to me.
No worries Derrick
You alright
Again she took me by surprise.

Zesty Italian/ My Brown Eyed Girl

About this poem

Inspired by my encounter with a young woman I would work with at The British Open Pub in Venice Florida in 2019. It was all about chance encounters, and it helped lift my spirits during my journey, and to always be remembered…
