Forgive, As I Forget
Sarah Rayan 1982 (Kuwait City)
As I evolve to adapt on land, let me forget the waves, as they swept me away from home, with the sand, and the tides, who rise and fall, for reasons, only I understand
Let me forget the wolves, most of all, who dressed like sheep, as I recall, and played the demons, who made me crawl, no one else made me feel so small
I forgive the man, who failed to see, he could have slayed those demons and set me free, or destroyed the wall I built to guard me, only one man holds the key
But I find no reason to forgive myself, for loving the waves, tides, demons, and wolves, I blame no one else, and the moon, who commands them all, I placed on a high shelf
