From one Fool to Another

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

The wisest of the wise a fool----
Compared with God’s great knowledge
And even if you think you’re cool
And do real well in college
You barely have a chance
Of even doing one thing good
No matter all you’re longing
And how much you wish you could
Don’t search the world for meaning
In your wealth and your possessions
The only thing you’re doing
Is increasing those obsessions
The best thing you can do
Is to enjoy what you’ve been given
And find new life in Jesus Christ
A life that is worth living
Enjoy what God has given you
Because this is your portion
And don’t delight in evil ways
In robbery or extortion
The wise man sees the danger
And he quickly turns aside
But all the fools keep going
With God’s hand they will collide
From one fool to another
Let me testify this first
Blows and wounds cleanse away evil
But the beatings really hurt
