Suspensions

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

Many would prefer to live,
Their entire lives,
Suspended above from truth.
And the pain of facing reality.

Delusions to fiction and deny the truth.
Only produces not reduce,
The curiosity of children.
Seeking to satisfy the when and why,
Something is kept from them...
To deceive and lie about.
With a doing sought to seek from others,
A difference of opinion heard to hear.
Done to leave their parents livid.
Assuming censorship of books,
Is best to protect...
The minds of their 'innocent' children.
Children already exposed.
And overdosing on options of drugs.
They choose to select.
To stay as high as they possibly can get.

Suspending to keep truth suspended,
From a reality that exists to dismiss it.
Has assisted in today's mental illnesses.
With disbelieving,
They have been duped.
Hoodwinked and tricked by fiction.
And told tall tales sold bought to buy.
Just to sell,
Lies and alibis to accept and excuse...
Abusing of others.
Knowing who amongst themselves,
Have been made the fools.

'Apologize?
I have yet to call you a stupid idiot.
And I will certainly not apologize,
For being honest.
I have been forced to live this way.
With much support.
And incredible endorsement.
I could not refuse but accept.
Living to grow up in the projects,
Left no defense given...
For anyone living in denial or pretense.'

'But I find your honesty,
Cruel, brutal and offensive.'

'Mary, don't you weep don't weep.
Hey...
I grew up to discover,
Truth to fiction...
Is a painful way to ignore,
Reality in my neighborhood.
Plus...
Being subjected by folks,
Like yourself.
Taught and trained,
To believe lies to tell...
Is the only way to live life well.
Was not a choice for me to make.
I had to hide my love for writing.
For health purposes.'

'Oh?
What made you sick?'

'Living in a brickyard.
Hoping my dodging,
From thrown stones and sticks.
Would prevent agony to feel it real.'

'So now I guess,
You are going to tell me...
I have been lieing to myself?'

'No.
I had nothing to do,
With that damage done to you.
However...
Whoever did that to cement in your head.
Is more deserving of the credit to take it.
Whether they accept or not,
Their interest invested...
In your kept preceptions,
Has left more than you and me deceived!
About everything.'

'What is it now you are saying?
Both of us,
Have been unknowingly victimized?'

'As if brothers from different mothers!
Yes.
Twins of the same,
Injection of persuaded deception.'

'Huh?'

'The womb,
Is a terrible thing to waste.'

'You mean,
The mind is a terrible thing to waste.'

'That too!'
