SAVAGE VACATION

Phil Roberts 1957 (Melbourne)

Unsuspecting holidaymakers
Land upon the red island sand,
Unaware of danger lurking near
Within this malevolent land.

Komodo Dragons and crawlers
Both hunt upon the island fair,
While Manticores and Wyverns
Are hunting through the air.

Murderers and rapists lurking
Behind every bush and every tree,
Waiting to pounce upon innocents
Passing by within their reach.

It's a savage vacation indeed for
Those who come here unaware.
Of death hiding in the shadows
And horrors almost everywhere.

Tom-toms beating out the sound
Of terrors heading toward you,
Cannibals and huge carnivores
Yearning for midnight food.

Killers wielding battle-axes
Are coming rapidly your way,
Looking for women to ravage
Abd children to cruelly slay.
