Lament

Losing ourselves one day at a time
Struggle to find life’s reason and rhyme

We’re swimming out to sea in uncharted waters just to feel something
When you’re desperate enough, dying for anything is better than living for nothing

Humanity’s so ill and festering in its sin
The cosmos is so quiet just letting the dark win

I’ve seen the monsters haunting the night
Their lust for blood is such a scary sight

Christ will you save us someday soon?
Deliver us from the arrow of noon

The very worst creatures stare back at us in the mirror’s reflection
The disease of society isn’t so bad next to our own infection

My heart was pure when I prayed to you as a boy
Speaking to you as a friend and son with so much joy
Innocence died in me a year at a time and now my callous spirit plays coy
My body is less of a temple and more of a rundown sinful toy

Can I ever get back to who I was in decades long gone?
Will the sun ever rise again showing me the long lost dawn?

God do you even listen to the losers
Or is your love reserved for the winners?
Cause I’m feeling forgotten in life
Only ever amounting to a sinner

Send love to us ugly humans too
Cause we didn’t ask to be alive
We didn’t ask to be alive
