My Love

Michelle Watkins 1979 (ocean springs Mississippi)

Sometimes at night I lay awake and watch you sleep.
I can't take my eyes off of you because you are so sexy and sweet.
From out of nowhere you showed up in my life and saved me.
I was so unhappy and lonely that I could not breathe
You smiled that handsome smile and it made my heart melt
We were both so damaged by the life we were dealt
In your eyes I saw the most beautiful soul God could have made.
Damaged and broken by monsters and the games they played.
Then I find out that our time together will be brief
And I know it will cause me a lot of grief.
I would do it all over again only better than before.
I will never take your love for granted anymore
I cherish every moment I have with you
And I thank God every day for you

About this poem

I wrote this poem for my fiance. We have only been together for a year. He was in an awful motorcycle accident several years ago. A metal fence post went through his brain. Right before we met the doctor told him that he had eight months to a year to live. It's been a year now and he is still with me.
