For the haunted
Rasmus Berggren 2002 (Linkoping)
This is for the people like me
The ones sitting with the passion in their heart
But with a raging anxiety inside their chest
With the loneliness and fear
This is for you
I know how you feel
Standing still in a raging world
All you want is to be free of the societies expectations and judgment
You want to be alone, without the sadness of it
You want to find someone who understand
But you know they don't exist
Because who could understand you
And now you just read that line
Frowning that anyone could be unique except you
Well, we are two of a kind then
We both are the lonely
I, the writer
You, the reader
Together we form a bond
We know that life is a struggle
We discovered it at an early age
Reading the writings of the lonely and desperate authors,
we entered this world of constant skepticism and anxiety
But we would not trade it for anything
Because it is who we are now
Engrained in every cell, every DNA strand and every core of our identity
Without the sadness we would never be us
Well, I promise you
We have a gift
To all the depressed, to all the outcast, to all the bookworms
Happiness is the fools treasure
Both you and me discovered it
We are free of the oldest human curse
And it will tempt you
taunt you
ridicule you
and push you to the brink of insanity
In the end, we will find the peace, and what we all crave
I hope you are there
