Drunk poem

I wrote a poem just for you
one night while I was drinking
It’s full of all the things I feel
      and some were without thinking
My poems will tell you how I feel
      while others leave you guessing
This one is the craziest yet
‘cause it comes with just a blessing
Did you think you were just something
to help me pass the time
Maybe you thought that you were here
      to fit inside a rhyme
Or to fill a void someone has left
      deep within my soul
But you were here in my life
      to play the smaller role
You were here for me to enjoy
for what little time I had
And meeting you has changed my life
and made it not so bad
Although the day will have to come
that I leave you far too soon
You’ve made me feel so special
like I lassoed YOU the moon
The things you said on lonely nights
to make me want you more
 Lessened all the painful things
      I’ve been through once before
So just about the time you feel
life has given you such angst
listen to these words I write
      just to tell you thanx!
Thanx for all the times I was
      a thought inside your head
Thanx for changing how I feel
      And wishing I were dead
Thank you for the second thought
When all your day was through
The things you said to always show
Just what I meant to you
The fact that I could never be
The one to share your heart
I can only tell you where you went wrong
And with others where to start
My journey has been long now
And I fear I have to say
Not having someone in my life
Has sent me on my way
The way I know the story goes
      And reasons as to why
A lonely day within my life
Would make you want to cry
But every day I continued on
As if it were my last
Running from the things in life
And the bad things in my past
But all the running was for not
Cause things they have their way
Of coming back to haunt you
      On any given day
So as I sit and drink alone
I think of times we shared
The times you could’ve made me see
      how much you really cared
