Cycling

Tabitha J. Bryson 1973 (Indianapolis, Indiana)

The Eternal Midnight
oh, how she fears the dawn
for to fade away she will
with the coming of the sun.
To disappear completely
though only for a little while
because return again she will
as the sun leaves us with a smile.
Around & around
this cycle goes
if only to remind us
of the way life flows.
For life truly is a cycle
in oh so many ways
What was before will be again
like the dance of night & day.
So fear not, Eternal Midnight
do not fear the sun
let him instead remind you
the daily joys of a life newly begun.
Take comfort in your shadows
but learn to embrace his warmth
for he must do the very same thing
for life's eternal cycle to sally forth.
