Analysis of As a day that we escape
Mark Cloutier 1972 (Kaneohe)
Before the fall of the darkness
Dawns the light of the night
That awakens the sun
To an early morning
And the brightest of lights
As the darkness is misunderstood
And the light enters the mind
As enlightenment and a body
Of knowledge and light
As the eyes open to the day
And the mind closes
To the darkness of time and space
But falls as stars
In the end of time
As space then again opens
To a world unknown
As the door of enlightenment
Of minds of the night lights
As hearts like stars
Return in rhythm
Of thoughts as a form
Of knowledge and light
And then we enter enlightenment
As a day that we escape
