Before we leave

Mark Cloutier 1972 (Kaneohe)

Before we leave
We take with us
The things we know
As both real and unreal
As both what is known
And what is unknown
Unconcious knowledge
And thought and form
And we manifest
What we speak
And in act
Of both real and unreal
Then we leave
Taking only what we brought
With us to this world
And we enter worlds
Unknown to this plane
And we climb
Jacob's ladder in the night
As angels ascend and descend
Like messengers of the unreal
As that which is real
Takes thought and form
