Analysis of Today My Baby Killed Someone

"Today, my baby killed someone,"
I heard his mother say.
"Into his hand they put a gun,
And sent him far away.
They took him from his loving home,
And changed his way of life.
They ripped him from his baby son,
And from a worried wife.
They tore down all that he became,
And built a soldier there.
They added 'Private" to his name.
Nothing in war is fair.
If he hadn't killed that other man,
For sure he would be dead.
I'm thankful God guided his hand,
But something stays within my head.
I hear another mother say,
As she fights to choke grief down.
'Someone killed my baby today.'
As he is lowered in the ground.
