Analysis of This World (Revised)
This world: vast, complicated, and cold –
mostly cold – frozen over
and all together impassable
with its high, proud ignorance.
The senses capture nothing –
hearing becomes dulled,
taste and smell are naught,
touch and sight are all but forgotten.
Rotten and writhing, the people –
people of this world – are dying,
and piteously carry on, trying
to regain that which they did not fear to lose.
Long ago they did choose passivity –
and pure lack of care
sent them here – to darkness –
doomed to forever grapple for the light.
Calling forward night, and ignoring
that quiet whisper of wit,
carried them down a river –
a river that completed the mental death.
The lost, tortured souls – bereft
and left to darkness –
are suffering through a world of Hell
for they gave up their intelligence.
