Analysis of Sudden Change

Years can go on swimmingly and suddenly a dam
blocks the flowing river and lands you in a jam

Years can go on fluently and suddenly a crash
routs the easy living and takes away your stash

Years can go on gracefully and suddenly a fall
halts the hasty tempo and slows you to a crawl

Years can go on happily and suddenly a test
thwarts the jubilation and dissipates your rest

Years can go on modestly and suddenly a thud
wrecks the propriety and drags you in the mud

Years can go on peacefully and suddenly a war
foils the tranquility and undermines your core

Years can go on faultlessly and suddenly a gaffe
stops the satisfaction and leaves you only chaff

Years can go on lawfully and suddenly a vice
ends the reputation and turns your blood to ice
