Analysis of In These Dark Times

What can you do
when every beat of the heart
brings you closer to Death?
You will not be bolstered
by those who think you great,
nor will they create a haven
that will hide you from the day of Death.
The scythe could stop your breath,
there is no way to reach the top
past Death, mortality will be breached
first, and blood will run in the streets.
Sweet, dripping red: Death’s accomplishment,
torment to those who still live
to throw roses to the graves,
saving the hope of eternal souls.
The heavy tolls will be paid with time,
and not a dime will be overlooked,
but, still, there is hope to see
past the eyes of a telescope.
Join hands with those in opposition
to Death and end this inquisition of all,
fall not to false success or glory,
for that story never ends well.
