Analysis of Critics

Critics are dangerous they stifle skill,
Dampen the ardour bring on a chill,
Through cutting words many don't write,
Gone lost for ever another's insight.

All have feelings these writers can convey,
Recording a moment that's soon passed away,
Each can capture a different point of view,
Oh how easily a gem gets through.

Suppressing a talent before it can start,
Easily creates doubt breaks someone's heart,
What may develop will never be known,
Plants never mature if a seed isn't sown.

About this poem;-
The poem originated after reading in the media about art critics and others
who adversly put down some artists and writers, sadly many a budding
artist or author has ceased due to this. Actually what most need is encouragement and determination to succeed.

stan brierly

I have been writing poems for forty years and written about all sorts of things. Somehow I get creating streaks and can write up to 4 or 5 poems at once of varying subjects. I find it is a good way to record events of the day and bring history to life. The mental aspect is a balance against keeping fit, work and life in general. more…
