Analysis of Catch My Rope

Catch My Rope

Will there come a time when you can catch my rope?
Staring into space without a telescope
Moving from a mattress to a bed of nails
Trusting only strangers with no bill of sale

Tried to make contact but you're lost in time
Curiosity can be you're only crime
Time to take your medicine without a choice
Let it be tonight you get to hear my voice

Sending out a signal with each puff of smoke
Turning in your head like a kaleidoscope
Sacrificing all without a guarantee
Will there come a time you come back home to me?

Dave Ratcliffe

Some of my imagery may seem a little on the dark side at times but I feel the pain of the chastened and broken among my close family and friends. I write from the heart to express my innermost thoughts through song lyrics and poetry. I try always, ‘to be true to my philosophy of understanding tolerance, to share my perceptions and desires with integrity’. I have just finished my first play which was both a challenging and rewarding experience, which I intend to follow up on. I enjoy reading poetry from all over the world. Poetry.com is a great platform for me to network with other like-minded people and showcase my own work for others to be moved and inspired. After all this is the duty of a poet…I have just had my first poetry book published with the Title Scratching the Page and my thanks go to Michael Dobson for producing it and to all those who read it more…
