Train of Ghouls

Train of Ghouls

Scratch my culture with your wisdom
and pour some sense into my glass
then send a message from your kingdom
to destroy the weeds from choking grass

With Sampson strength remove this pillar
and tread my grapes then raise a cup
my trust is dead but I'm no killer
just had some problem's growing up

Mephistophelean breezes blow
to scatter what was once so pure
to all parts of this puppet show
on a train of ghouls I take the tour

Lament engulfs the weary spirit
the game is over I concede
you win again your game has merit
another chance is all I need

Dave Ratcliffe

Some of my imagery may seem a little on the dark side at times but I feel the pain of the chastened and broken among my close family and friends. I write from the heart to express my innermost thoughts through song lyrics and poetry. I try always, ‘to be true to my philosophy of understanding tolerance, to share my perceptions and desires with integrity’. I have just finished my first play which was both a challenging and rewarding experience, which I intend to follow up on. I enjoy reading poetry from all over the world. Poetry.com is a great platform for me to network with other like-minded people and showcase my own work for others to be moved and inspired. After all this is the duty of a poet…I have just had my first poetry book published with the Title Scratching the Page and my thanks go to Michael Dobson for producing it and to all those who read it more…
