Analysis of A Man with a Map
A man with a map,
trapped in the intricacies of the lines and patterns,
learns to follow the directions perfectly,
steadily working his way to the finish.
Delicious smells and homemade food
go by the wayside in due time,
rhymes and rhythms escape his fervent ear
intent on hearing only what will get him farther.
“Son, will you sit a moment?” his father asked,
but only thoughts of the map passed in his mind,
binding him to the very purpose of it all,
enthralling the man in the chase.
Based on the crossed paths and roads,
that well thought out code of the world,
the man was hurled straight to the end
even before his time intended.
Ambition and drive were mentioned,
providing redemption for the man
who ran so fast to his death
because his destination stole his breath.
