Bleeding Out From the Walls

The memories are hiding,
finding tiny cracks and small nooks
to hide their secrets in.
They gradually liquefy,
and bleed every last truth
straight into the floor.
In the ground you walk
and the very air you breathe,
heavy with fragmented pieces,
lie the words, sounds, and phrases
of world gone,
leaving only fossilized traces.
All the tears and all the laughter
stay within the walls,
embedded there until awakened.
Only one thought,
just one subtle glance,
brings every sharp detail darting home.
