Analysis of MY HUMBLE HAND

MY HUMBLE HAND

Together I wish we could stand
Side by side and hand in hand
It seems you won't understand
The hatred covering the Land

Maybe I could change your mind
Maybe common ground we'll find
We could see where they're blind
If only we could leave hate behind

I try to reach out, you shut me down
Maybe if you'd just turn around
Lift me up from the hard ground
Together we’d lift a joyful sound

I thought I saw, a tear in your eye
But I didn't have the courage to try
In stubborn fear does hope die?
Or do you just kiss it goodbye?

Fall now with me, on our knees
Lift to God our desperate pleas
Quick before hope forever flees
Let's be a Light the whole world sees

But I'm here, praying all alone
Bowing before God's own Throne
I know that our sin Christ did atone
Let's not let our hearts turn to stone

Maybe…maybe I should turn your way
Maybe…mayber I shouldn't push you away
I know that I don't always have words to say
So instead, brother, let us just pray

For we each are called the be His Light
We dim each other whenever we fight
When we pray together, man what a sight!
Watch the Devil himself run away in fright!

So here I am, I offer you my humble hand
I pick you up, and together we stand
A Light shining throughout our dark land
A witness, a testimony, that's so very grand
AMEN

About this poem

“Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift. Matthew 5:23-24
