Analysis of Merchant of Soul
Why does no one come
to my sincere stall?
It's market day at school,
where we showcase, for all,
our products of beauty.
Our creations. Our work.
For them to recognize
our inner worth.
Hello! Excuse me!
Would you like to see my gems?
It's made from hopes and dreams.
Cased in my spirit's hems.
But they walk on by
without noticing my smile.
Perhaps they didn't mean to.
Perhaps it's guile.
Katie's stall's the best!
I'm sure she'll win.
Everyone comments
about her ideas within.
But it's fine if they don't come.
I have Daddy here.
A day-off from helping
people calm their fear.
He's a social worker, see.
Consoling all who are lost.
Finding them a home
without charging a cost.
Daddy says it's crucial
that I enter this show.
It's not about who buys.
It's about how I grow.
By exposing my gems
I'll reveal my soul,
see my color's beauty,
and make me whole.
So I'll keep my stall open
for today and all tomorrows.
If my gems stay dust free,
they won't turn into sorrows.

About this poem
We all are God's children. He wants us to show our beautiful selves to the world. Sometimes, without receiving recognition, we get disheartened. The real magic, though, is when we recognize ourselves.
