Analysis of The Barter – My Life For A Kiss
I’d give my life to kiss you
Just one touch of lip to lip
To feel your warmth beside me
And your weight upon my hips
Simply to rest my head on your chest
Would be an apogee supreme
I’d place it above any heaven
Or any supernal being
But I know this thought is flawed
And it can never come to be
For you’ve gone to ground already
And your spirit has been set free
Still I know that if you offered
Your hand from the netherworld
And bid me love to join you
I’d hasten from this world
Because I’d forsake my place in paradise
For your hand pressed to mine
And once our angelic lips had met
My heart would be sublime
Then I could surrender it all
Nothing earthbound would be remiss
If I would lie down sweetly
And pass into the abyss
