Analysis of Je Ne Sais Quoi

Charles Edward York 1966 (Saigon, Vietnam)

Je Ne Sais Quoi

I don’t know what it is about you
A breeze blowing in my direction
Caressing my face
So soft and subtle and yet
With the force of a lightning bolt
Striking me deliberately
On amorous purpose
Sending shivers in my soul.

It’s this sensation and much more
I can’t deny in broad daylight
Nor hide in the dark
Your sweetness
Compels me to surrender
I imitate your embrace
Fold myself around you
Turning over my heart.

Everything about you is mystery
No definite answer arrives
Your name and face
Touch me without a move
We ain’t ending, you say
And so it goes with us
Our love grows because
Je ne sais quoi says it all.
