Analysis of Had We Not Been Followers
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
Had we not been followers,
Of our own selfish needs.
Allowing a feeding to feast upon.
While pleasing the doing of a beast.
Taught to tease,
The vulnerable easy to deceive...
A humanity entitled with freedoms.
Spoiled and given as a birthright to receive.
Had we not been followers,
To believe and fiction ourselves to be...
Untouchable deities of a democracy.
Some have come to perceive,
Theirs to belong exclusively.
With a doing to introduce racism, conflict.
And division Worldwide to observe it to see.
Done specifically to prove,
Sickened mentalities live hypocritically.
And express having no regrets to confess,
Openly addressed.
The acknowledgement of having less respect,
For others than they do for themselves.
And...
Had we not thought of them as exceptions.
To worship and idolize,
Pretensions with false images given.
We would have kept more aware,
Of our common sense and consciousness...
Now to have gone to disappear in thin are.
Collectively.
With a doing done to 'assume',
The value of either kept to keep,
Had been a worthless investment.
While rewarding those made to be fools,
Leadership positions making decisions.
Ensuring a destruction of a quality of life,
They believe can be better recreated...
If only their delusions to fiction,
Become embraced.
By a society already fantasized and crazed.
With dreams and wishes to rule and control,
Over an Earth.
Fragile and existing in a Universe.
They see yet disbelieve,
Has anything to do with ending their reality!
Had we not been followers,
To notice this to know it.
More respect we would have shown.
Not only to our 'home'.
But to each other to care more not less.
Until some B.S.
Shows approaching close to our doorsteps.
And only then we attempt to quickly defend,
The origins of our madness!
