Analysis of Babylon

step away from those tired eyes,
I told myself,
comeback from away
the flame’s gone tonight
burning from the inside
reminiscing the days of Babylon...

now a restless night
traces the footsteps of the days,
the destructive echo’s
finding that love is a lie,
feeling the silent lashes of the breezes
coming from the past
shredding the stories
into adaptions
hugging bones left from glory days,
when it was deluxe to be a queen.

still a long distance away,
in our small space, I stay still, observing
what she longs for & what I can grant her
to cover the naked exodus,
just for the air to pause
so she could release the heavy sigh

I think I’d lost her when I found her past
it’s time for me to be home without her
where there’s a spacious room
but hard to move when she’s in a trance
a memory could be lying anywhere,
spilled, crowded, and stuffed in my room
from Babylon...
