Analysis of Metaphor of emotions

How does one describe the whirlwind of emotions we
encounter during this journey

LIke an anchor:
Cast into  a sea where we must swim to the surface in order to see clearly

A Maze:
Poised in the center pondering over its many
passages realizing there is only one exit

The Tornado:
That suddenly roars through disarraying everything
in its wake leaving us to retrieve the pieces

Sudden Car Crash:
In a matter of seconds they will strike us hard
when we least expect it

That Persistent Fly:
Which lands repeatedly annoying you refusing to leave

A foreign language:
A subject adamantly studied in an effort to master it

A light switch:
I wish they were a switch that could be flipped on or off
