Analysis of The ballad of Kyle

Listen here Kyle:
this country is wild,
the world far and wide knows your name.
I would throw off my fame,
and get a passport today,
then start a new life far, far away.

…maybe even try changing your name.

One night in Wisconsin,
a city was burnin',
the chaos was heard 'round the nation.

So this little kid Kyle,
he drove a few miles,
on a little naive expedition.

…on this evening of theft and destruction

Kyle thought he was helping,
but the mob wasn't having,
this lad who was quenching their fire.

So they chased him around,
beat him down to the ground,
and that's when Kyle fired off a few rounds.

…several guys in the mob crumbled down.

Listen here Kyle:
are you out your mind,
for putting your life on the line?
On this evening so fateful,
the mob fierce and hateful,
only wanted to cause desolation.

…on this evening of death and destruction

This little kid Kyle,
they put him on trial,
and the folks outside demanded his blood.

But then said the jury,
the verdict: "not guilty,"
and so Kyle was allowed to walk free.

…at the time he was only eighteen

Listen here Kyle:
this country is wild,
the world far and wide knows your name.
I would throw off my fame,
and get a passport today,
then start a new life far, far away.

…maybe even try changing your name.

Listen here Kyle:
the world is so wild,
you've still got a long way to go.
So stay out of trouble,
and manage your battles,
'cause life is enough of a struggle.

…and stay on the road straight and narrow
