Lonely oak upon a hill

Oh lonely oak upon a hill:
sacred place where time stands still.
Faithful to the moon and sun,
throughout the ages shining on!

Oh ancient oak upon a hill,
what great stories can you tell?
To men and beasts that come and go,
what great wisdom you’ll bestow!

Oh weary oak upon a hill,
standing tall while others fell.
The world around you fades away,
but here you linger night and day!

Oh desolate oak upon a hill,
bitter as the winter’s chill.
Why does no one come to stay,
or ask you how you feel today?

Oh lonely oak upon a hill,
derelict but standing still.
Teach me how to suffer too,
for I am lonely just like you.

Oh lonely oak upon a hill...

About this poem

Written during a lonely time in my life. The oak tree symbolizes an old soul, who despite has a lot to share, is often ignored by many.
