Analysis of Sleepless Nights
Sleep was unavailable,
as you tried all night.
That pain inside you,
put up a big fight.
All day you tried to beat it,
but it wouldn’t go away.
The medicine didn’t help,
so we upped the dose today.
I pray tonight that you rest,
and dream all good things.
Then wake up tomorrow,
and see what the day brings.
I hate to see you hurting,
and that I can’t make it go away.
There’s only one thing I can do,
and that’s get down and pray.
God, please take her pain,
and cast any worries aside.
I’m begging you for mercy,
to please make her pain subside.
Please give her some relief,
so she can rest a little while.
Maybe with a peaceful sleep,
it will bring back her smile.
Thinking back through the years,
just trying to reminisce,
My momma is a tough cookie,
and I’ve never seen her like this.
She was always so tough,
never went down without a fight.
Seeing her down like this,
just doesn’t seem right.
I’m not asking for more time,
just get her through this pain.
Make the meds start working,
I pray this in Jesus’ name.
