Haunted Forever

Catrina Fuentes 1981 (United States)

Haunted forever
The memory remains
That day in my life
Instilled in my brain
No one around
to hear my screams
the end of my life
as though it seems
how could they do this
I’m only a child
they didn’t even care
They just sat there and smiled
I prayed to God
to set me free
they let me go
to God be the glory
I run to the police
expecting an arrest
they sent me to the hospital
and ran a lot of tests
months went by
and no arrest made
I felt scared and alone
so I laid down and prayed
they had my ID
that they stole from me
I was on the alert
in case they came for me
I drew their faces
and gave to the police
hoping they would catch them
and give me some peace
they found one guy
and set the court date
didn’t do any good
so we left the state
we started a new life
In the Natural State
I guess all along
this was my fate
Trials will come
but God is always there
so get on your knees
and bow down in prayer

About this poem

I was kidnapped and raped by two ex-juvenile officers while walking home from the county fair. They lost my rape kit at the hospital and when the court day came…. There was no evidence
