Analysis of Monster

Makaylla Liggett 1994 (Sandpoint, ID)

Since that day
I’ve been afraid
Of people like you
And apparently you’re human too

Not in my eyes
You’re a monster instead
And your every lie
Is better left unsaid

Monster, do you hear me?
Monster, do you care?
The truth will set me free
It’s time to say your prayers

Monster, are you listening?
Monster, are you there?
I can hear you breathe
I can feel your stare

I’ve relived every part
Of this scene
The world will know who you are
And become your enemy

You have taken every part of me
And made sure your demon did the rest
Some days it gets hard to breathe
Some days I’m not at my best

Monster, do you hear me?
Monster, do you care?
The truth will set me free
It’s time to say your prayers

Monster, are you listening?
Monster, are you there?
I can hear you breathe
I can feel your stare

Yes, you were born human
But you died when you did the crime
You should’ve seen me coming
I’m the past you chose to leave behind
