Analysis of To Be A Beast

Ebenezer Ayidana 1995 (Kumasi)

I want to be a beast
For beasts are fully unleashed
True to their design, to their creator
Not less or even greater.

I want to be a beast
For beasts are joyfully released
From the bondage of doubt
Excuses and more, they are without.

I want to be a beast
For beasts just are, not great or least
Unlike me, the great human animal
Great I am, but my reality minimal.

I want to be a beast
For beasts are relentless to feast
Oh my dreams, I so desire your reality
Before the twilight of my mortality.

I want to be a beast
For beasts will comb the entire east,
Just to find their one desire,
Oh my dreams, my heart burns as fire.

I want to be a beast
For beasts will not be ceased,
Oh my dreams, I come now as a monster
As a beast, to shape you now, not later.

About this poem

This poem is about the often unfulfilled potential of the average human being. By digging deep into out primitive side, we all can be relentless and single-minded (as "beasts") to achieve greatness.
