Analysis of Pipe Dream

No matter where I go.
Every corner I turn.
Your face is all I see.
With that same old smile,
Those beautiful heterochromatic eyes.
And I can’t help it.

The taste of your lips still lingers.
And I want mine all over them again.
But you’re not really here.
Just a trick of my imagination.
I was addicted to your touch.
Maybe obsessed is the right word for what this was.

To the curb I went;
Just to satisfy
Your need for me to leave.
It’s been years now
And I almost forgot your name.

My love for you was terminal.
Like a toxic drug;
Yet I still couldn’t get enough of you.
I was attracted to your narcissistic ways.
Regardless of every lie you’ve spoken.

Wanting you now is nothing
But a pipe dream.
A spur of the moment.
So unrealistic.
And I still can’t help it.

From the second we met;
My heart stood out of place.
I was petrified.
Mortified.
But I loved you nonetheless.

And to this day,
No matter where I go;
The scent of you still
Lingers on my clothes.
