Analysis of Affirmed Friend
yearning for a warm hug
he’s looking wary to the top
of my head and decides
to comb my hair for attention
how softly he pulls with
his nails splitting strings
until I bring a hand to his neck
place a kiss on his forehead
then in my arms he’s purring
and telling me of his delight
so once again I see and feel
he’s my friend alright
