Analysis of Color Dazed
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
As black as it is massive,
This to witness Universe stays.
Adorned with stars seen to twinkle,
Light years from us away.
It is from this darkness dreams are made.
To wish upon a falling star.
Seen from where we are come true.
And yet with closed to open eyes,
Confusing and difficult it remains...
For anyone to explain,
Why many still refuse to accept...
The ones born reflecting,
Different skin hues.
On an Earth that inhabits,
Such various depictions of God's creation.
And yet,
Without color to pick,
How dreams to wish for them to come.
To brighten up their competitive,
And boring existence.
Very few would live to admit,
If it had not been out from darkness...
Everything they enjoy to experience it,
From food they eat to people they meet...
Attracted their emotional sensibilities.
With a color of it to notice more.
Than arguing over the price to pay,
They used to satisfy...
That craving to be entertained.
'Too far out in the water,
Are you fishing to get my response.
Reel your line closer to the shore.'
'How many dreams can you envision,
And create...
Using a white crayon?
From a box of an assortment of colors.'
'The color,
Of my chosen and selected Universe!'
'And...
What sense does that make?'
'You brought the subject up.
No one I know,
Whatever 'hue' their ethnicity...
Lives on this Earth tax free.
Regardless what they claim to own.'
'I believe we were talking about color.'
'And that color is 'green'.
For every bill I owe to pay.
That's how grounded I remain,
To my own unchanging reality.
With hands of every color,
Displaying to show me their palms.
Stretched out in my direction!'
'You have missed my point!'
'And God works in mysterious ways!
