Keeping Records

There are people who claim,
The having of records kept.
Of who in one family,
Had been given two dollars more...
Than the rest.
As if this reveals a jealousy already known.
And said to confess it at the funeral,
In which others have come...
To express their heartfelt condolences.
Exposes to show just how petty,
A mind like like this is the reason...
Ongoing lies told and conflicts don't end.
Unable to let go.
Although these mentally limited people,
Are fast approaching their 80's!

'I remember your grandfather.
My father.
Gave both to you and your ex-wife,
$2 dollars each.
And I have records kept of it to prove it.'

'I am so glad you brought that to my attention.
Since...
My ex-wife and I divorced,
Back in 1984. Over 39 years ago.
And your father, my grandfather...
Had passed away.
Many years before that!'

'And...
What is that suppose to mean?
What are you trying to prove?'

'Some folks will make up anything.
Anywhere and at anytime,
To make even a mournful event...
All about them.'

'I just wanted you to know!'

'Thank you for reminding me,
How sad these times are getting!'

I actually like your poems. It is so personal (story) yet you turn it into a beautiful poet that express your thought and feelings. I would have agree, what is $2 really meant? What are they trying to prove? But after all, all I can say is that they have different mindsets.
