the lines on her hand
hallmarks from a past
entertain her mystery.

love lines scattered
intertwine like life.
neat fine lines indented
end at differing points
stitch-like, crisscrossing

over her soft palm, like
narrow roads on a map.

her hand stretches open
entwined by the Reader.
red nails trace the lines

"history repeats" she says
"another will take his place"
neat fine lines indented
draw the reader in ........
