Thinking of You

I could spend hours walking
on a beach with just you
swapping quiet stories or
chasing each other through the
shallow tide
you in your bare feet and
salt in your hair.

We’d watch the sun go down
from grassy dunes
your body nestled in mine
the beach fire-light in your eyes
we’d stay until sunrise
god! you’d look so wonderful
in the morning, and
I would recite poems to you:

“What dawn brings it’s light
to the colour of thine eyes
that the day so clear
finds cloudless blue skies
within ……”
