Analysis of Blue Monday

The clean up has started in the capital,
same devastation being wiped away elsewhere.
It’s a blue Monday all over in England.
The players and the fans equally in hinterland,
of the anguish of a ruthless defeat,
when their goal was an inch away from their hand,
despite a resounding rallying cry,
and Sweet Caroline,
over half a century of a promise unmet
yet again.
It’s a Blue Monday all over in England.

Lionhearts to the last
they fought hard and fast.
Southgate’s battlers in the end
succumbed to heartbreaking penalty fallen
but they are of true grit and will bring
the Cup home soon with a swing.
For now it’s a blue Monday all over in England.
